The setup wizard

Creating a workspace takes you through eight steps: Company · Tools · People · Connect · Roles · Accounts · Invite · Review.

  1. Enter your company name and, optionally, its website. Alma researches the public web and drafts your industry, size, and description — review it and correct anything wrong.

If research fails or the website is blank, you get empty fields to fill in yourself. Alma doesn’t invent company details.

Team size is a fixed list: 1–10, 11–50, 51–200, 201–500, 501–1,000, or 1,000+ employees. Industry and description are free text.

Your organization is created when you submit this step.

  2. Pick the shared tools your team uses. This step only records intent — you connect them in the next step, and can add more later from Connections. It’s skippable.

  3. Import your directory: paste a list (Alex Kim <alex@acme.com>) or upload a CSV/TSV. Everyone imported becomes a Person in the directory, not an account. No one is contacted.

This step is skippable, but steps 5–7 all work from the roster you build here.

  4. For each tool, choose one:

    • Connect — run the OAuth flow yourself, now.
    • Delegate — hand it to the teammate who owns that account. They get an email and see it in their personal settings.
    • Skip — decide later.

You must choose one of the three for every tool before continuing. Skips are wizard-local and aren’t recorded — a skipped tool just stays unconnected.

  5. Assign an access level to each imported person:

    Level Meaning
Member Connects their own accounts, answers Alma’s questions, runs their workflows.
Admin Everything a Member does, plus Radar — a live read on ROI, coverage & AI use.
Implementer Full control of the implementation — Sources, Memory, Workflows, Security.

You’re the Implementer, since you created the workspace. Choices here are held locally and applied as the invitation role at Review.

  6. Decide who has to connect which personal account. Requiring Gmail of the Sales group means every person in Sales is asked to connect their own Gmail.

Group and individual requirements are saved for real. The three System rows (Members / Admins / Implementers) are wizard-local and aren’t persisted — use groups or individuals instead.

  7. Pick who to invite in this first wave. Only people with an email address appear. You can invite the rest later.

  8. Everything you’re about to send is listed here. Send invites & finish sends an invitation to each person you picked. Invitations expire after 7 days.

You land in the Console. From here, finish anything you skipped in Connections, and invite the rest of the team from Members.

Invited members get a first-run page, not the wizard. It asks them to connect any required personal accounts, shows any company accounts delegated to them, and explains Alma’s data policy.

Members can skip this entirely — a member who connects nothing still gets into the workspace. To chase connection coverage, use the reminder tools on Connections.
