Add Alma to Slack

Slack is not a connector you paste an address into — it is a pairing between your Slack account and your Alma account, so a message from you in Slack is known to be from you.

Before you start

• Someone with permission to install apps has added Alma to your Slack workspace.

1. Open your avatar → Chat apps and choose Slack.
2. Press Connect Slack. Alma matches the Slack account on your workspace email.
3. Message @Alma in Slack, or mention them in any channel Alma is in.

Note

A Slack connection is a record on your account, so this one ticks itself.

What Alma does in Slack

Ask in a DM and Alma answers there. Mention Alma in a channel and they answer in the thread, seeing only that thread — not the channel’s history.

Alma also reaches out to Slack: when a task is waiting on you, the nudge can arrive as a DM, and you can decide it from the message. What you decide in Slack is decided everywhere.

If the match fails

The pairing matches your Slack account against your workspace email. If you use a different address in Slack, ask your admin to line the two up — Alma will not guess, because guessing which human a Slack id belongs to is exactly the mistake worth refusing.
