Add Alma to ChatGPT

ChatGPT reaches Alma through a custom connector. That is a feature OpenAI gates behind a plan and a setting, so read what is required before you start — it is the difference between two minutes and a dead end at step 3.

Before you start

• A Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise or Education account, on ChatGPT for web — developer mode is not available on the free tier or in the mobile apps.
• Developer mode turned on in ChatGPT: Settings → Security and login → Developer mode.
• On a Business, Enterprise or Education workspace, an admin has to allow custom connectors first (Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected data).

1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors.
2. Choose Create, or Add custom connector.
3. Paste your workspace address: find it in your avatar → Chat apps, where Alma shows the address.
4. ChatGPT sends you to Alma to sign in. Approve the connection.
5. Start a chat and ask what is waiting on you.

Note

Alma cannot see which app connected, so tell us when it is done and we will tick the step.

What ChatGPT can do

The same as any other app you add Alma to: it sees what you can see, and anything that changes the world still comes back to you as a task to approve.

If the connector option is missing

It is almost always one of the three requirements above — most often a free account, the mobile app, or a workspace whose admin has not allowed custom connectors. OpenAI documents the current rules under developer mode in their help centre; if they have moved since we wrote this, their page is the one to believe.
